Barbados, Shore Excursions, Cruise Activities and Culture - Bridgetown Cruise Terminal

The Cruise Terminal provides services for the use of cruise passengers and crew members. It offers 24 duty free shops, quaint pushcarts, unique Chattel Houses, the Customs, Immigration, Port Health, Plant and Animal Quarantine Services, a Post Office, a communications centre and general information services at the Barbados Tourism Authority.

Shops and Carts

Over 20 large duty-free shops offer a range of items, including jewellery and watches, fine china and crystal, electronic goods and perfumes. Shop in air-conditioned comfort as you purchase tax-free merchandise, at prices typically 30% to 50% less than in Europe and North America. Sixteen (16) colourful pushcarts are located along the center of the aisles where street-style lamps and plants give the impression of being on a Barbadian street. The pushcart vendors retail a range of items, particularly hand crafted objects and even home made cakes, condiments and confectionery.

Chattel House Village

Outside the main entrance to the cruise terminal is a village made up of Barbado's historic chattel houses. The small, brightly painted houses are now filled with artists and small business entrepreneurs who sell tee shirts and handicrafts to cruise passengers. The unique village also includes two restaurants, perfect for lunch, or that late afternoon snack on your way back to the ship.

Transport

Rental cars are available for cruise passengers just outside the terminal entrance. For those on pre-booked or organized tours, a special departures area with numbered gates has made it easy to find your tour group. The bus system in Barbados is also convenient and can be picked up in Bridgetown, 15 minutes walk from the terminal.

Staying in Contact

The terminal has a post office, Internet Café and business centre. You can even rent a mobile phone for the duration of your stay.
